Over the years, members of the Canyon Lake Community Theatre and their audiences have been carried Over the Rainbow; sung their way through the hills of Austria; winged their way to Neverland; learned that It's a Hard Knock Life during the Great Depression; prayed that Luck be a Lady while reforming sinful gamblers; sympathized as Russian Jews were driven from their homes while honoring their Tradition; and determined that Children Will Listen as they journeyed Into the Woods to fracture classic fairytales.

Patrons and performers have prayed with the Little Sisters of Hoboken; brought comic strips to life while reassuring an insecure boy and his dog that You're a Good Man Charlie Brown; realized that You've Got to Pick a Pocket or Two while thieving to survive in 19th Century London; marched to 76 Trombones; learned that You Can't Get a Man With a Gun; danced across 42nd Street; fell in love with a Cockeyed Optimist during a raging war of racial prejudice in the South Pacific; and admired the strength of a woman who believed Everything's Coming Up Roses despite the hardships and uncertainty of a show business life.

Through the magic theater, one can travel anywhere the imagination leads and, more than 16 years ago, that journey on a chalky yellow brick road, directed the founding members of a fledgling Canyon Lake Community Theatre and Performing Arts Association to a small, concrete stage at Indian Beach. On that magical September night in 1993, the curtain rose and Moonlight Theater was born. Under a blanket of towering eucalyptus trees and twinkling stars, life-long friendships were forged, dreams came to life and stars were born.
